Question

Can you legally ship airsoft guns to the state of California?

Answer

Pyramyd Air can legally ship Airsoft items to the State of California.  To ship Airsoft products to California, we must follow California Airsoft Law (SB199).  California has enacted legislation that requires specific colorings on all airsoft guns.  This is to distinguish an airsoft gun from a real gun.  

Imitation firearm means any BB device, toy gun, a replica of a firearm, or another device that is so substantially similar in coloration and overall appearance to an existing firearm as to lead a reasonable person to perceive that the device is a firearm.

If the airsoft gun is configured as a handgun, the markings must include the following:

• Blaze orange ring on the barrel.
• Trigger guard that has fluorescent coloration over the entire guard.
• A two-centimeter wide adhesive band around the circumference of the protruding pistol grip that has fluorescent coloration.

If the airsoft gun is configured as a rifle or long gun, the markings must include the following:

• Blaze orange ring on the barrel.
• Trigger guard that has fluorescent coloration over the entire guard.
• A two-centimeter wide adhesive band with fluorescent coloring around the circumference of two of the following: the protruding pistol grip, the buttstock, or a protruding ammunition magazine or clip.
